Urbanization Level in Chinese Counties: Imbalance Pattern and Driving Force

Urbanization level is a key indicator for socioeconomic development and policy making, but the measurement data methods need to be discussed further due limitation of single index availability accuracy statistical data. China urbanizing rapidly, urbanization at county scale remains mystery its complexity lack unified effective indicators. In this paper, we proposed new measure Chinese by integrating population, land, economic factors; fusing remote sensing traditional demographic data, investigated multi-dimensional unbalanced patterns driving mechanism from 1995 2015. Results indicate that: The average comprehensive has increased 31.06% in 45.23% 2015, permanent population may overestimate China’s process. There were significant different spatial temporal dynamic levels as well level. shows pattern being high south-east low north-west, divided “Hu line”. registered populations presents northern border eastern coastal areas, which strengthened over time.
